It got chilly all of a sudden. Like someone flipped a switch. Every year when this happens people make the same joke, that the temperature went from 90 to 55 like it saw a state trooper.
That means it’s time for pots of tea a firing up the oven. Dutch Baby pancakes for breakfast. Yum!

Sukkot!
I spent the afternoon taking down our sukkah. Nomadic Hut Appreciation Week is over. This was the first year we really went back and build a real soccer instead of just visiting friends are putting up a tent in the backyard and calling it good enough. It was really fun to hang out and the weather was beautiful. Lil Turnip loved having an outdoor space to kick around in. She took her toy cars out there and hung out. Next year I want to decorate more, but one step at a time.

Yom Kippur
So I spent Yom Kippur sick this year. The holiday came in while I was in urgent care getting antibiotics for a throat infection. I’ll spare you the photos I took of my horror movie tonsils. I got dressed and ready to go to services and then pound out and went back to bed. I haven’t been this sick for a while. We did not however cancel our Yom Kippur break fast dinner.
Turns out we can cram 16 people into our dining room for a sit down dinner if we try hard enough! Plus a little kids table in the kitchen. May you be inspired in the book of life for a sweet new year!
Rosh Hashanah
We hosted friends for Rosh Hashanah yesterday, which is a celebration of the Jewish new year.
We made round braided challah and borscht. The little kids enthusiastically dipped apples in honey and we all tried new fruits of fresh yellow dates and longon.
Shana tova to you and may you be inscribed for a sweet new year!
Support Your Local Businesses
I am at my local neighborhood coffee shop and it’s the best. I’m trying to fake it till I make it to be fall I wearing boots and Valore pants, but it’s still iced coffee weather. I love that I have a little café right in my neighborhood and I definitely want to support them so they stick around!
